How would you approach asking to be considered for a different position?

I was approached by a consultant to embark in a recruitment process for a specific position. First was just a talk with them to explain the position to me and see if I was interested, then it was a technical interview with the direct manager of the position. This went well and I've got called back to a final interview with the manager's manager which is in two days. For this one I have dug deeper into the company and I've realized they have an open position which has more responsibilities and it's more similar to the one I'm currently holding. How would you approach asking to be considered for this second position? I was thinking I could call the consultant and explain my previous reasoning but I also wouldn't want to blow the chances of getting one because I asked for another.
