I brought up my issues with my boss and she gaslit every single thing I had to say.
I started with the fact that she screamed at me over the phone last week and she claimed she has never screamed at an employee. My bf was witness to this phone call. He was shocked that an employee would ever speak that way to their employee. She said she doesn’t even have the ability to yell because she has pneumonia and yelling makes her cough. She then started a coughing fit because she was raising her voice. She had coughed a lot on the phone, too.
I brought up the fact that she insulted me and accused me of rumours. She spoke circles around me until I got her to admit that she did, in fact, accuse me of a rumour.
I also mentioned how she blamed me because another employee quit and she said yes, because I had no business texting said coworker about work. All I had done was give my coworker a heads up that my availabilities were changing (I was doing a lot of overtime every week and it was affecting my health) which could potentially affect her and so she should talk to our boss about her scheduling needs. It’s not my fault that employee’s timetable could no longer accommodate the store’s available shifts and so she decided to leave. According to my boss, I scared her into quitting.
Next, she said that I used to view her as a great boss (true) and she doesn’t understand why I don’t anymore. I told her it’s because she has changed and she refused to believe that. She said she’s the same person she’s always been.
I saw the conversation was going nowhere so I just signed the exit paperwork and started drafting a letter to her superiors to let them know why their turnover rate is so high.
