Rant- They don’t care about you

Just a bit of a rant here guys. On mobile. I changed jobs last year to work for an Ombudsman Service/deposit scheme (I'm based in scotland). It was better pay, work from home hybrid and seemed like a good step because I was bored and drained of what I was doing and I wanted a challenge and to lead a team again. I start, in a manager/team leader role, I loved my team and I dove in doing work for my job as well as the deposits side, I helped do projects and create processes for the business, I did tech support and testing for their new system, I worked overtime and busted a gut when their new system launch was a disaster (they data wasn't cleaned before migration).

I created processes, spreadsheets, data recording for my team when our work started kicking off and was constantly praised about how essential I was by staff including a chef exec and you know what? I meant nothing.

I was essentially bullied by two higher ups who took a dislike to me who would badmouth me to other colleagues and treat me lile crap. I was constantly ignored by the head guy, he didn't even speak to me at the Christmas night out, he would change the goal posts and treat me like a manager when it suited but then expected me to be a call handler and cover because their business cover was garbage and poorly managed. I gradually lost the drive to do well and I hated it, it felt like some high-school drama only it was a man in his late 30s/early 40s being petty and childish.

My old job heard I was having a tough time and said they would happy to have me back and included a pay increase and a compressed work week. When I discuss this with my team they came back that there was no counter offer to keep me, there was the possibility of a future pay bump, but it wasn't guaranteed and couldn't promise me it so I handed in my notice.

The big kicker is after telling me there was no offer, after being told how 'essential' I was, they advertise a new team leader role at a higher salary than what I was on.

So fast forward today, a few months removed from the old place, I saw the old head of the company, one of the worst people I have ever worked with, and another colleague who I had previously got on with, because my old/current company is linked to them and was there any chat or asking how I was getting on? No, there was nothing. People who I had worked with for months and they didn't even bother really speaking or looking at me.

Company's don't care and if you find yourself in a situation where people treat you like garbage, leave and find a new job. People in power will always find a way to take advantage of you and when your no longer any use or they decide they don't like you, you're out.

My old/current job is a pretty boring job that keeps me busy, the clients suck and there's no real benefits, but I only do the hours I'm contracted and at least in a place that is paying me what I'm worth for a far less demanding job. If that ever changes I'll leave there too, so please everyone know your value and don't put up with work places or bosses who will milk you for all your worth and leave you out to hang.
