Forced to commute 2hrs after moving?

I'm a remote software developer. My employer does a lot of stuff right compared to most. I have relaxed colleagues, flexible schedule, 4 day work week, interesting work, and decent pay. However there is a unique detail about my field that requires I sometimes work in-office for a random period of time and at any random notice. I'm gonna do it because I actually like the job, but I got a lot of shit elsewhere for not immediately goint gung ho into such a shitty situation. Am I crazy or does this really suck and my boss should take into account things like gas and mileage comp, burnout, and the stress from 4hrs of traffic.
