Is my job allowed to shave off time to prevent overtime?

My job always cuts time I’ve worked every week to exactly 40 hours. It’s only a few minutes but this still doesn’t seem right. Last pay period I worked 80 hours and 15 minutes, but they took off the 15 minutes. Is this allowed?
