A little rant post:
I’ve applied to a number of New York City and New York State gov jobs. I have no interest in civil service but my family is very insistent that I apply and it ultimately takes no time.
I have started getting emails about “hiring pools”
Essentially, you and many other people are called to come to the location at 9 AM and they interview you according to some order. By the time they get to you, the position may or may not be filled! It literally says this.
They want you to take a day off work and you’re not even guaranteed an interview. Meanwhile they complain they can’t find people to come to these!
This makes no fucking sense. They literally are using the worst possible model for interview scheduling.
