Really need to vent.
So I got fired for the first time ever this past month. For some context they waited 8 months to give me a review – so I didn’t know what I was doing wrong. We set up a personal improvement plan, one of the goals to finish a project by the end of January. Now I realize I should have communicated better in hindsight but we were swamped with actual client work that I had assumed we needed to push it back. Fast forward come to find out it was expected that I work extra hours outside of regular working hours to get this done. No overtime. That wasn’t expressed to me.
Additionally I had asked another manager for accommodations for my ADHD in the office, because he cared so much about me being in the office and that wasn’t even discussed but instead I was let go. It also mentioned being in the office more except for when sick that I could WFH and I still got in trouble for that as well because I’ve been sick a lot since the beginning of the year.
The straw that broke the camels back was the boss telling me I need to reconsider my field.
I’m pretty fed up with bosses telling me I should quit my career field like that’s something I can just do so easily in this market.
I’m talented at what I do and it pissed me off to no end that he said I should rethink what I’m passionate about.
