My girlfriend's boss is short staffed, will not hire anyone new to save money and will not give her time off even though she works her ass off everyday for almost a year now.
She is asking for time off for a trip that is 7 months away. We want to travel to another country and she is requesting this far in advance to help boss prepare. She asked for 2 weeks off and got denied. No reasoning either other than “we don't have enough people”.
It hurts me because I see her working overtime what seems like all the time and she hussles everyday.
I think she should find another job because it's not like this job is paying her anything significant anyways.
Here's what I am thinking:
-> She quits her job at 1 year mark
-> She will continue working there until she finds a new job
-> We take the trip and I handle all the bills while she's searching. I make enough to handle it all anyways so I don't see a major issue.
-> My boss has been constantly telling me to take time off so it's frustrating to see her straight up get denied when planning half a year in advance.
I simply can't respect her boss. It's a decent job for her but there are plenty of more jobs out there.
Maybe i'm overreacting on emotions but we're taking this trip one way or another.
If you guys feel like i'm out of touch, please let me know what we should do instead.
