My boss thinks he is being clever whenever I need to take a 15 minute break, which is extremely rare. We work in a very fast-paced customer service oriented environment. We are perpetually short staffed since the job is so shitty people don't stick around long.
Nobody, and I mean nobody, that I work with ever takes their 15 minute breaks but I have recently realized that since I can't sit down to rest my back on the job, then I am going to take the 15 minutes I am legally owed.
When I respectfully let him know that i will need a 15 minute break and ask if let me know when would be most convenient, his response is always the same…”I wish I could take breaks”
I am not good at being tactful, so I could use some help with some clever and accurate responses so I can stop feeling so shitty. He thinks it is just witty banter but I think its f****** rude especially when he gets paid a hell of a lot more than me.
