I have been an intern for a couple months now and my manager has been giving me hell. When I first joined, she never gave me instructions on when to clock in and when to clock out so I am usually the person that comes in first and leaves last. She has a “figure it out yourself” type of mentality. As an intern, I am obligated to work 40 hours a week but because my manager is an ass, she got mad at me for leaving after 8 hours one time and stated I have an “attitude” problem for doing so, she even scheduled a meeting to chat about my performance after I left my 8 hour day. We don’t have clock in system at work (other than badging in to the building) so I usually send her pictures of the time at the office when I start and when I leave. I never had to take pictures before but it became a problem after I clocked out my 8 hour shift that one day. She seems to have trust issues of when I clock in/clock out and even expressed this to other people in the team but there is no reason for this because I come in before anyone else and leave way after everyone else leaves, even her.
The past few weeks I have been coming in at 8AM and leave around 5:30PM to 6:00PM, sometimes even 6:30PM. There are even times I would leave at 7-8pm. She knows what time I leave on a daily basis through our work chat but I only get paid for the 40 hours I work. Recently, she has been stating that I have not been doing enough when I clearly have been working over hours without pay. There’s another intern on our team that recently joined but under a different manager and I always see them come in at 9AM and leave at 5:30PM on the dot.
Is this something I should take to HR?
