This is a bit of a rant or musing, but let's break this down.
(Disclaimer; I'm happy with my job. While it's not perfect, it's the best option around here and it's only for a few more years for me.)
Americans are;
-
Chained to their jobs through health insurance
-
Completely at the mercy of their employers job security wise
-
Extremely underpaid and overworked
-
Punished for trying to change things or for trying to start a union
-
A consumable, disposable, single use asset to corporations. You remember the movie the Mummy, shen Imhotep sucks each American cowboy dry and regenerates himself? That's Corporate America v American Workers.
-
Always at the brink of starvation
-
Always at the brink of bancrupcy – or worse, medical bancrupcy
-
Kept from disturbing the peace by police who is entirely on the side of corporations
I'm sure I missed a lot but this is written off the top of my head. Corporations are holding the future of young people hostage. We might be able to quit our jobs but for all intents and purposes we are slaves to a predatory ststem designed to keep us in our lane.
I'm leaving this country in a few years but let's ignore that as I ask, where is the way out of this dead end? Because I don't see a way forward for American workers, that does not end in violence.
I feel like corporations have spent a very long time surgically closing off escape route after escape route in order to trap us and create some kind of pseudo slavery system where they can parasite this country to the very last young person. And then act like this shit is normal.
Not sure what kind of answers I expect, but… Is there anything about this country that isn't broken? Again, where is the path out of this hot pseudo fascist mess?
