So for the last couple of weeks we’ve had a new interim manager, I hadn’t seen or spoken to her yet since I work shifts and she is only there 2 mornings a week.
Yesterday I was supposed to have a scheduled meeting with her, which she requested. Getting to know the team and what not. First of all it was set at 14:00 and then a couple of days before she changed the time to 10:00. Fine no problem.
She walks into the office doesn’t introduce herself, gives me a literal nudge and says ‘yea our meeting might take place a little later, because I have to apply for something (non work related might I add). Fine no problem. 10:00 o clock passes and she sends her ‘assistent’ to inform me that the meeting will not take place because she is still trying to apply for her benefit. Sure…
About an half hour later I bumped into her while she was smoking a cig. She had a request, if I please could swap shifts later this month. I hesitated because planning ahead is already a nightmare for us working shifts. But then she said if you do, that means you’d get a week off and your schedule will still be ‘healthy’. I was then interested of course. So I accepted.
Now this is when she showed her true colours. The change was made and I looked at my new schedule in the system 1 week off but also 30 minus hours. I was super confused. Because wtf! I knew for a solid fact I was not minus 30 before this change. So I go over to her and tell her something is wrong here, she tells me it’s all correct, I must be mistaken and her system does not lie. We went back and forth a couple of times but she insisted everything was fine. And she really didn’t take proper time to look at it with me, or at the least listen to me. At this stage I thought I was losing my mind. Because it wasn’t fine! I was fuming.
I went back over to her again, again same answers, then she looks at her watch and tells me she has a meeting in six minutes and needs to grab something from her car.. My boiling point was almost reached. She told me to send an email to the roster planners about it.
OK! Fuck you ill do that. Without saying the FU out loud. So as I’m gathering all the info for my email. I finally noticed what happened here. She changed my schedule but literally took out an additional 3 shifts! Hence 30 minus hours.
Fucking bitch, she made me feel like I was mad. She didn’t even see what she did, gave me no time and left me frustrated. Never ever have I been ‘handled’ like this before. When my last manager would request a change she would know and inform me about everything. This manager didn’t even notice, she should have known before offering me a change. A week off? Fuck that, I proceeded to send an email and requested my schedule to be put back to how it was. I don’t play those games.
