I'm working a split shift at a news station currently. I'm about to move on and find a different job because I work 4:45 am to 9 am, then 11:30 am to 1 pm. So I'm technically there 42.5 hrs a wk but only get paid for 29 hrs. The split is justified, as we're not airing anything from 9 am to 11:30.
I feel like I'm wasting my life though. I like the job (unfortunately lol) but I can't see it really making sense to stay on if I'm not making enough money. My boss said “I can give you more responsibilities but not more pay” like lol. That's the opposite of what I want.
I can't go home during my split because I'd have to drive 30 mins home then 30 back. I'd also lose my parking spot if I left and the garage is packed during the afternoon.
I guess I'm just venting. What would you do if you were working this schedule?
