I work as an electrician, in general, I enjoy my job. But it is endlessly discouraging when I get sent to work for wealthier customers. All, with the exception of a few, have been absolutely insufferable, vapid, and shallow people with no respect for labor and the skill that comes with any form of labor.At any point in these mansions and large luxury homes, I and my fellow workers are the most skilled and competent people in the building. Yet these homeowners treat us like we are dumb animals.
I've had a customer recently who lives in a mini-mansion on a lake with fancy boats and multiple garages for their surplus of cars complain about service rates and try to refuse me payment because 'all I did was change lightbulbs'. Buddy, its a lightbulb, and you called me to do it. (Keep in mind the charge was ~120 for an hour) My company doesnt disguise our service charges. You shouldn't get a discount because it was a simple task. You decided you wanted to hire an electrician to change lightbulbs for you, you're going to pay the price for a electrician to change your god damn lightbulbs. Next time you hop up on the ladder and change them your damn self.
So, to all the rich chuckleheads out there who think a task is beneath them and hire someone else to do it, you don't get to complain about the price. Too much of a wuss to clean your own toilet or bathroom like the rest of us, pay the cleaner, too good to change your own lightbulbs, dont cry when the electrician hands you a bill. You aren't my mom, you arent my best friend, my labor doesnt come at a discount to you.
And to all my fellow workers, never accept less than your worth. If theres a demand for your work, its worth paying you decently to do it.
