“Job hopping” vs. firing

How is it fair that someone in a position to hire you can say something like ” Oh, you've only been at all of these jobs an average of two years. That doesn't look good.”? In a place that there's at will employment, assuming you've voluntarily quit all the jobs listed on your resume/application, it's perfectly valid to job hop. Especially when you compare the number of jobs you've held against the number of employees said company has fired/laid off. You could just as easily say that's a problem, more so even, than you leaving a job. They should really piss off with the job hopping rhetoric
