Learned my lesson after my boss told me he’s deleting my mileage reimbursement request

i’m 23 and i work as an accountant in a big secure building. my boss made it my responsibility to get snack and drink deliveries from costco up to our suite. since i’m literally 100 lbs and going through the building dock is such a hassle, my dad and my brother wanted to help by doing a costco run with me over the weekend and we delivered $700 worth of items up to my office. it took about 4 hours and it was very labor intensive. it should be enough to last the office a month and i saved the company $200 since costco upcharges every product when they deliver themselves when i submitted my receipt for reimbursement, i also added a mileage expense for 37 miles (we took 2 cars to fit everything) and it was like $22. since i usually approve expense requests, i’ve noticed our salespeople who…

when i submitted my receipt for reimbursement, i also added a mileage expense for 37 miles (we took 2 cars to fit everything) and it was like $22. since i usually approve expense requests, i’ve noticed our salespeople who are millionaires always get reimbursed for personal mileage so i figured it wouldn’t hurt. today, my boss brings up my request, gets mad and says he’s deleting the mileage. he told me to stop comparing myself to the salespeople who bring in sales. i said i wasn’t doing that…and then he told me I willingly chose to do it over the weekend. I said yes, I did, but I got a months worth of stuff and they could’ve just paid an extra $200 in delivery costs instead but I told him to just delete it. it’s not about the $20 and i know they’re not required to do it, i just felt so disrespected. he literally made it seem like i purposely did it to squeeze money out of them or something wtf…i didn’t include the miles to get home, just the miles to costco and to the office. they’re trying to cut costs right now and i figured i was helping…literally never wasting my time going out of my way for a company again
