Even if you are the most productive employee in your workplace you will still get screwed over if the boss doesn't like you. I personally just find it funny that she had no complaints about me until after I made it known I disagreed with her firing the most productive and longstanding employee there.
So I have two coworkers that make homophobic remarks at the desk (where, according to our boss we are supposed to keep our conversations “5 year old appropriate” because we are a library) and, when they laughed at me when I asked them to stop I decided to stop talking to them for anything that wasn't work related. Apparently this has made me “standoffish” and created a hostile environment. I do find it funny that these complaints only came about after I expressed disagreement with one of my boss's decisions (which happened at the end of January) and not once I stopped talking to them at the end of December.
Now I am probably going to get my first write up ever just because I don't want to have casual, non-work related conversations with homophobes who couldn't even properly complete their closing duties.
If it wasn't for the fact that there are really no other job openings in my area I would quit but I also kindof want to eat. This is the bullshit you have to put up with in these super red at-will states.
