Today I officially quit my job as an IT manager. I posted the situation on here before but deleted it as I wasn’t sure what I was going to do.
A month ago my boss pulled me aside and said “you’re doing nothing wrong, this project is a lot more complex than we originally anticipated. If we stay on this path you’re gonna get fired, I recommend you take a demotion”. He then said take a few days to think about it. I told him that’s wasn’t a good idea because I’d just think more and more on it and thing of only the negative aspects. He said let’s talk on Monday (5 days from conversation).
He preceded to ghost me for 2 1/2 weeks after countless messages and emails. I ended up having a severe panic attack and had to go to the hospital because I thought I was having a heart attack.
When I emailed him again telling him how this wasn’t fair to let me sit and stew on it and that we needed to talk about my demotion he said he was sorry he had been busy.
Our next convo went basically the same as the first, he told me HR was already aware etc. also multiple other managers were suggesting giving me the boot, but he was “trying” to protect me.
Since that convo I’ve been cut out important meetings, he even took me off of the slide show for this project. Today he started lambasting me about not meeting certain deliveries, I told him had I been in those meetings I would have. He brought in an independent contractor a month and a half before to “help” me. Guess who was on all the slides, him. So I finally had enough.
I drove in to the office and dropped off my shit. I called HR informing them that I’m resigning effective immediately. I told them why, their response was “he said if you don’t take a demotion you’re getting fired?” I said yes, their response “holy shit” clearly HR had no idea about this.
