How do y’all feel about work group chats with your bosses in them?

Recently my boss put all twelve of us employees in a group chat to talk about scheduling, issues, picking up shifts if they’re available, etc. I thought this would be helpful, but it’s turned into a place where our boss can single us out in front of other employees. If there is a shift available to pick up, she’ll text us to see who wants to pick it up. If nobody wants to, or nobody answers, she’ll just text “hey ‘x’, why won’t you pick this up/answer the question?” Basically singling out one employee to either answer the question or pick up the shift. If there is a shift available to pick up, she’ll text us to see who wants to pick it up. If nobody wants to, or nobody answers, she’ll just text “hey ‘x’, why won’t you pick this up/answer the question?” Basically singling out one employee to either answer the question or pick up the shift. If you answer and say no you’ll get a “….ok I guess.” like you should be embarrassed/ashamed. Or like they’re annoyed with you.

I don’t work above my allotted 40 hours because I’m in nursing school, which is a lot already. I don’t pick up extra shifts, as I’ve informed them before that my schedule doesn’t allow it. Every time she singles me out, she sends an annoyed text to the group (who understands why I’m not picking them up) but still. I don’t understand why it’s okay to shame/embarrass employees into coming in. Thoughts? Similar experiences?
