I work part time at a Fortinos, which never used to be very bad, even when I started a couple years ago.
My GOD has this place gone to shit.
I'll start with the biggest thing right now: they have started cutting everyone's hours. I though it might've been just me for a while even though I've really had no issues with anyone here at all, but I found out the other day that it's everyone. They have started giving us all less hours and they haven't hired a single new person (at least in my department) for multiple months.
It's gotten to the point where most days we have one person work a 5 hour shift in my section, and they expect that to be fine for the entire day. I come in to work in the afternoon and the entire department regularly looks like a fucking tornado went through it, and that's not an exaggeration. I showed up the other day and spend 20 minutes just putting things back in the right spot, something that used to take me no more than 5 minutes.
When I interviewed for this job I was asked how often I would be willing to work, since part-time can go up to 20-something hours a week. We agreed on around 15 hours a week and I watched my interviewer right that down so I know they have it documented. Now I'm getting barely 10 hours a week, working 2 shifts per week instead of 3, and those shifts I start an hour later than I used to.
None of us can keep up with everything they expect us to do because we are working less time with no extra help. The shape of the store is getting progressively worse.
Second thing I want to say: I have had multiple instances where the schedule has been suddenly changed with no notice, and I don't mean like 1 shift changed a day or 2 before. I have come in to work more than once and found out on my own by checking the schedule that I am suddenly supposed to be there the next day when 2 weeks ago when the schedule was posted I had the day off. The opposite too, I have showed up to work a couple of times, just to find out that I'm not supposed to be working that day, even though when I checked the schedule 2 days prior I had that shift.
Not once have I gotten a message or a phone call or any kind of notice that anything was going to be changed or was changed. And they almost never make the change earlier than 2 or 3 days prior. (I'm in Ontario btw and as far as I'm aware, employers are supposed to give at least 24 hours notice for a shift change and 96 hours notice for an entire schedule change).
There is more but this post is already huge. I might add more in the comments or make another post.
