Had a message from my supervisor after I disclosed a medical condition I have. She sent this message –
“I don’t want to violate your trust and promise I will not disclose this with anyone else…but…considering this is impacting your work, it is my duty and responsibility to bring this up to (name) as they are my superior and CEO. If you want to tell them first, I empower you to do so. Let me know if you have a preference. This does need to be a conversation today though.”
This doesn’t seem quite…appropriate to me, but wanted to hear other thoughts? Think there’s an obligation for a supervisor to report private medical conditions?
