How do you counter the “additional duties as assigned” portion of a job description?

This is something I often see in a lot of job descriptions or other catchy phrases like, “other duties as assigned, flexible and willing to do other tasks as needed, other duties assigned by manager.” It appears like this is an unethical catch all to make sure employers can make you do whatever they want even if it's not something you signed up for when you originally applied. What are ways that you've found to combat these phrases so you are staying in your lane? Is the only way to combat these catch all phrases is to use group bargaining?
