TW Mention of Anti-LGBTQ+ slander, death, and racism.
To add some background, I work in the medical field.
When I first started working at my new job I frequently worked with a very racist and conservative woman in her 50s.
She frequently made hateful comments about her dislike of patients not speaking English, immigration, and Asian women (idk why but she really hated Asian women?) and more garbage.
She had been working there for YEARS and nothing was ever done…
Before I started a different new employee reported her before I could and one day I got a call from HR to speak my piece. She was fired and everyone lost their shit and got sad….yea.
Now a few months later at the SAME office another coworker has decided to be very vocal about her dislike of the LGBTQ+ community. She makes horrible comments about the “gay agenda” and even went so far as to tell me and another coworker (both veterans) that trans military members should be put on the front lines and killed…..
Early this week in a staff meeting she proclaimed how she will NEVER ask a patient their preferred pronouns even if they are “In a costume and pretending to be whatever”. She made a lot more comments but you get the idea.
The second coworker has yet to be fired, but thankfully a new manger is actually taking it seriously, and I hope she’s gone one day soon.
It makes my skin crawl hearing a person say such horrible things, ESPECIALLY when dealing with sick and dying people…..and I am tired of it. I’m tired of these things being remotely accepted in the workplace just because the person is usually nice and bubbly….I don’t care.
