Termination due to sexual orientation discrimination and retaliation

Now listen, I have NEVER used that “gay” card in my entire life, but after the exit interview I just went through, I feel the need to express this as such. This is coming from a gay man in Idaho. A bit of backstory: On February 15th and March 14th, 2023, I was subjected to what I believe was discrimination, retaliation, and subsequently terminated from my position due to my sexual orientation. On February 15th, an employee targeted me with threats of violence because of my sexual orientation, which left me feeling extremely unsafe at work. On February 15th, an employee targeted me with threats of violence because of my sexual orientation, which left me feeling extremely unsafe at work. As a result, I reported the incident to HR in order to address the issue and ensure my safety. Following this incident, all employees at the business were put through a workplace harassment training to prevent future occurrences. During the training, we were informed that retaliation on the basis of sex, national origin, creed, or other factors was illegal per federal law.

Despite these measures being put in place, on March 14th, 2023, I was terminated from my position at the “Insert company name”, effective immediately. I was told that my “identity politics and values were not in line with the company's values.” & that I “knew the environment of the state before applying for a job here” To me, that sounds like a whole lot of discrimination and retaliation.

I want to make it very clear that I worked my butt off for this company to ensure sales and customer service were top notch and within the standards of the company. I feel so betrayed, and I knew this moment was coming regardless when I noticed they posted my position on Indeed “urgently hiring”

I strongly believe that this is a case of discrimination and retaliation, and I am seeking help and advice from the internet, attorneys, and civil liberty unions to find justice. I am not seeking legal advice on this subreddit, rather support from other antiworkers.

Has anyone else experienced discrimination or retaliation in the workplace? What actions did you take to seek justice? Any advice or support is appreciated.

TLDR: I was fired for my sexuality and now I'm just frustrated and at a loss as to what to do as the next step.
