I (M57) have been working at company that produces Offices Chair. Ive been doing basically everything there:

  • pack and unpack orders,
  • putting the chairs together and
  • even doing the delivery

This includes getting calls after my shift “How does this machine work, where is this, I couldn't find..”

Im not the one running this business but somehow still memories everythings place even if its as small as dust.

During work my wife called me and told me that our daughter has been puking neon green vomit.I told my boss and the secretary about it and left asap.Since that day I was supposed to do the delivery I also assure them id still get the job done today after my daughter is fine.

We went to the ER and we've been there for hours. While I kept on worrying about my daughter my phone didnt stop ringing. I kept on getting calls from work “how much longer this I going to take and how important this delivery is etc etc.” Ive kept on telling her that I'll come but right now I have to be with my daughter and wife. I told them I wouldn't care what time it would be but ill go to work when im done here. She didnt accept my answer and was still continuously calling.

My daughter was fine, thank god and I drove to work. My boss came out of his office as soon as he heard my voice there. “What are u doing here? I thought ur daughter had an emergency” I showed him all of the calls I kept on getting from the secretary. His eyes widened and told me to go home. “Deliveries are not that important and if it was I would have found someone else to do it”

I did what he said and went home to my family.

The next day the secretary seemed pretty upset about me “why did u tell the boss”
“I didnt. He asked, I answered. U knew about my daughter being in the hospital”

Update about my dad:

My dad started getting unhappier with his job especially after the boss's son took over the place. He had an accident there which still impacts him physically (Cant walk for too long) but had more damage on his mental health. He's now been unemployed since around 7 years. He doesn't have job but still works to keep us warm (eg. Chops wood)
