Can an employer force a salaried employee to take an hour lunch?

I work in retail and I’m salaried. I’m supposed to work 45 hours a week but my employer forces us to schedule ourselves for 50 hours and take an hour lunch. I never take the full lunch because I bring my lunch and it just doesn’t take me that long to eat. Is it even legal for an employer to force a salaried employee to take a one hour lunch?
