I tried looking this up but I am not very good with all the lingo. My boyfriend got a job doing some IT work. M – F 8-5. They have an on call phone for the overnight shift that they rotate between everyone. You HAVE to answer to call back within 30 minutes. This is for the whole week: Monday to Monday. AND you still have to work during the day on top of that.
You ONLY get paid if you answer a call. Isn't the law to pay you for the time you have to wait for the phone to ring? Since you can't be away from it at all for the entire week.
No one is salaried that does this. (ofc management doesn't make themselves do it. “Only for thee, no for me, you know the drill).
State is Kansas if that helps. I just want to know if I can report this so they can finally get the balls to create an overnight position or someone that likes to work those hours.
