As silly as the title sounds, at my recent job working as a chef I have been sacked because my girlfriend, who also worked there, left because of abusive management.
After six months of working there, I was taken off the rota with no explanation. My manager would not respond to any of my messages, and after talking with my peers there, apparently the owner told the manager to take me off the rota and not tell me. This was a day after my girlfriend quit the job, mainly because the owner had humiliated her, pushed her around, and been verbally abusive. The owner has had this track record before, with many staff quitting because of her.
What I find most infuriating is that I cannot get a reply from any of the managers of the reasoning for my sacking, nor will the owner respond to me. Although it was only a small job for me, it kept me afloat, allowing me to enjoy a few luxuries that I would not be able to afford. To get pushed to the wayside so easily and without explanation is truly unfair. Because of a lack of contracts I can't submit an unfair dismissal report, the owner clearly withheld contracts for this reason.
Overall, just an unfair abuse of power, that has left me very frustrated.
