[Rant] Employer-provided insurance doesn’t cover transition

I work for the US government, specifically the state of Ohio, and I’m unionized. I know the state of this country right now and yet I still feel my dreams of finally working towards some sort of gender affirming care have been totally shat on. I was finally booted off my dad’s insurance after turning 26 and tbh I was rather excited to finally be a little more independent and have my own insurance. I go through the benefits of what’s covered and what’s excluded and, whomp whomp, anything related to trans healthcare is excluded. Part of me isn’t surprised and all of me is extremely upset. I pay for health insurance, I put up with deductibles and co-pays, and yet they can’t be assed to cover something that would tremendously improve my life.
