I work in Healthcare with minors with disabilities, a tough job on the best of days. 2020 saw the loss of our 30 minute lunch break so we've been expected to eat on the clock for the last 2+ years, which is easier said than done for most of us in this field on a good day.
Today we got a memo that, effective immediately, we are required to only take 7 minute breaks instead of the 15 minutes we'd normally get because of how insurance rolls up billable time.
The kicker is, we still only get 1 break a day.
We are already struggling to keep people, let alone attract new people. Just how out of touch are these paper jockeys that call themselves “superiors”? And where the hell are the labor laws protecting employees? I had the 30 off 15 on break law shoved in my brain by my college law professor, and come to find out, that's practically a union only reality.
Just needed to vent.
