4 for the price of one

I’ve been at my job for over three years now. Aside from the pretty typical customer-facing job complaints, it’s been a pretty decent place to work until recently. The business was bought out last year. I was offered the assistant manager position and I accepted. The pay raise was nice and most of the tasking was things I’d already been handling for the previous couple of years. Both of our office staff resigned. And then a few weeks ago, the GM walked. I’m being expected to fill the positions that were four separate people as just myself and apparently at my same pay rate. I got a verbal promise of a raise almost ua month ago and yet I haven’t seen a dime. When I asked about it, it’s been nothing but non-answers.

The worst part, to me, is that I can’t afford to leave like the previous GM did. I don’t have the marketability to bring home what I’m being paid even without the promised raise, especially since anywhere that might pay anything close is an hour commute one way vs the 5 minutes I currently have.
