I work for a part of a company that rents out equipment for events. I’ve worked here for the last two years. I’ve never called off for anything or been late even a minute. A month ago my boss promised me a huge wage increase. His exact words were “well do it in may when we start getting busy again.” Yesterday he tells us we are having a meeting at 5pm and everyone needed to be there. The meeting was to tell us he had sold the event rental part of the company. The guy who bought it told us they’ve had this in the works for the past four months. No idea how this is going to play out but promising your employees shit knowing your going to sell is a huge douchebag move. This will be the last time I work for someone else.
