I’m over the “we value you as an employee” bs

First time posting here and I’ve wanted to share my experience and story within the toxic environment of IT which seems to be the norm . I’ve been working for 5 years at this local business and started as a help desk. Throughout the years I’ve worked hard as I can even though we were salary. I studied for more certifications on my free time that I wanted to get and get more educated with the emergence of new technologies. Anyway, typical Monday this week and I get told that I need to link my personal account through the partner portal so the company can keep its silver plan with MS. I’ve been working for 5 years at this local business and started as a help desk. Throughout the years I’ve worked hard as I can even though we were salary. I studied for more certifications on my free time that I wanted to get and get more educated with the emergence of new technologies.

Anyway, typical Monday this week and I get told that I need to link my personal account through the partner portal so the company can keep its silver plan with MS. I had a little issue with this as there was no talks of compensation for the certs we get or increase pay. So, I did what a good guy would, have a private meeting and stand the grounds not for myself, but everyone else. The hour and half conversation and the boss getting heated up several times and yelling, the deets is if we are to apply our certs we are to be compensated as it increases our value, knowledge and skill sets and it benefits the company more and keeps the partnership. He didn’t like that. Brought up, “well I just gave you a raise and you shouldn’t be asking for more after I just gave you more money.” Of which I replied, “that raise is for the extra responsibilities that I had to take on when you fired the last employee and with the extra work comes with more pay and I am grateful for it. But you are asking for more from me to apply my certifications from my personal account to your company so you can reap the benefits. I think I am in the right to ask for more compensation.” To which his response is basically a child throwing a tantrum in a mosh pit full of binkies . Then discussed about what our msp are doing and what they offer and how our pto of 4hours a month and 4 hours of sick, per, month, is trash.

And now, I am in a position with more deets, cause I am friends with my co workers, that he talked to everyone one by one, and wants everyone to validate his feelings and feel like a victim, and he’s thinking about firing me.

There’s a long history with this place and so much I can talk about, but I am just thinking whether to keep working and getting extra cash where I can while working with my co partner on our business or if I should say fuck it and leave and mainly focus on my partner and I msp business. Mind you, I didn’t sign a contract or nda so I could probably become more of a competition if I talk to the clients I’ve worked with and take them lol. I appreciate you guys and your movements and advice.
