Being asked to do what I’m not being paid for

I'm a frontend developer in a company job and my boss keeps asking me to do things I'm not being paid for, such as building APIs and making stuff that I'm not even close comfortable with/know how to do. I end up spending a lot of time studying his request instead of actually getting something productive done. The issue is he has close to no technical knowledge and I don't know the best approach to explain him that's not my job. He's that kind of Project Owner that thinks IT dudes know everything about computers. I can't tell if he's just playing dumb to make me do things I'm not supposed to either, since I just got hired. I feel explored as the days pass and this is making me burnt out like I never felt before in any other company. Help.
