I work in retail. I did seven years at Target, where I went from $7.75/hr to a total of $15.30 thanks to them bumping up their internal minwage. I now work at a different place, but let me tell you anyway: if you make less than $17/hr, you absolutely have room for growth monetarily speaking AND especially to tell your managers and the corporate assholes NO and “show me in real time how to do this with your own two hands”.
Do not stand up for abuse. Do not take on extra duties or doing things “their way” unless they're going to give you a significant (i.e >$2/hr) raise.
