I'm looking for someone who is in a similar boat or once was.
Recently started a job in the financial sector with zero experience. The job seems ok, but the manager is pretty hard to approach sometimes. Seems to almost hate helping me. Now I'm not the only new start so this wouldn't be a massive problem, but they seem to get along really well with the other new starts except me. I read online in company reviews that a big problem in the company is micromanaging and favoritism. Again this wouldn't be a problem if everyone was in the same boat, but I can't help but think that this could potentially lead to me not getting kept on in the future or being a fall guy so to say. The few things I have going for me are that I'm liked by everyone else, the customers seem to like me as well, but the problem is that I'm only about 20-30% competent in the role and getting close to 100% will require a good mentor at work. I can obviously try to ask my co-workers for help, but they are busy so if I make their lives harder it will look bad on me. I guess my question is how can I survive this job … I don't want to work there for my whole life, just enough to potentially find something better with the experience acquired. Im ready to work hard and I am also ready to never clash with anyone.
