I think I was misclassified as a Independent contractor for 3 years, whats my next step.

Recently I got a form cp2000, Amending my 2021 tax return stating that I had to pay a 15% tax rate along with the penalties involved. I take responsibility for the understatement penalty and I have made a payment for 12,000$ to the IRS, when I made about 40,000$ in 2021. After reading https://dol.ny.gov/independent-contractors and https://dol.ny.gov/employer-misclassification-workers It would seem pretty clear to me that I was misclassified as I was working in a capacity the exact same as the full time employees, just receiving a form 1099-nec. What are my next steps? Will I be able to get some of the 12,000$ that I payed to the IRS back? How should I file this years tax return when I still have a 1099 from this company. Do need an accountant? A tax lawyer? or both?
