What’s the most regrettable thing you gave up for your job?

I skipped my husband's naturalization to be a US citizen after a years long process so I could be at work. Same job fired me a few months later because I had a dental appointment that I couldn't reschedule (I was being paid under the table despite asking multiple times to be put on the books so I can't do anything about it) I gave up so much for people who never gave a fuck about me.
