Hiv everyone. I need a little advice. I was working for our major regional health care network for a call center through a staffing agency until this past Wednesday when my agency told me the client terminated my contract. For some context and backstory I started in March 20th and I'm openly trans and non-binary as well as I have 15 years customer service experience 10 of those in call centers. Thec person who was to be my manager was on leave for the first week and a half. All the managers and team leads my first week and a half seemed great. That was until my manager came back from leave and I felt tense. I should also point out the first 2 weeks were class room learning for training and the 3rd was just listening to calls.
The agents were great except one who I'll call Sarah purposely misgendered me when my manager came back, and would tattle. For example I had a paper I was given during a specific training and early in the morning asked Sarah if it pertained to us. That same day I was pulled into the office with the manager and team lead because when they “overhead” how I ask questions it seemed like a statement and not a question or that I was telling people how to do things. My manager misgendered me through this meeting and just stunned at them asking about my learning process. The next day I knew they were trying to find a reason to get rid of me when they moved my side by side traine, I had a target on my back. That meeting was on Thursday the 7 and I was gone not even a week later. This past Monday was my first day on the phone doing call backs and I was suppose to wait for my team lead, 8:30 was my start time, call backs start at 9 and it was 10 by the time the lead came over, Jamie the agent behind me tried to show me how to at least do the basics of logging in but as soon as she did Sarah ran right into the office to tattle. My team lead came out and said I had to wait for her to start. When I finally got to start the outbound work calling patients and leaving voicemails, my team lead sat with me and listened. She said I was doing fine and she didn't need to sit with me anymore. Here is where it gets interesting, I worked Wednesday the whole day doing the same thing, outbound no issues or anyone sitting with me. Though as I leave work my agency calls and tells me the client ended my contract for with them. When I asked why they said it was because the manage didn't think customer service was for me and that I am going to need surgery (minor knee surgery still not scheduled).
I think the manager is just trying to use that as an excuse to end my contract and the real reason I was terminated was because I was openly trans and non-binary. I felt uncomfortable in that office and confided another temp agent who worked downstairs in a different department suggested I tell someone about it but I didn't trust anymore. I also didn't trust my agency either. I told my agency I wanted to make complaint about them but they basically said shit out of luck you didn't work for them. My parents want to hire a lawyer as this health care network is known for being complete dick's to employees once something happens because that's what happened to my mom.
I just feel completely and utterly broken by then as I'm had anything like this happen to me in the past. My spouse is upset but doesn't think a lawyer is necessary. I'm sorry this was so long and if I'm bad at grammar or punctuation. Any help or suggestions would be great!
