Threatened with Less Pay After Covering Extra Task at Work

At my company we have had a steady stream of people leaving (averaging an experienced person a week over the past several months) to the point where we once had decades of total experience in the staff to the point where we will have under a single year of accumulated experience on the floor if I leave. We cannot get the equipment needed to do the job, ingredients, and ownership who contracts out more production than we could ever produce while going on trips or working remotely. I have constantly gone above and beyond; to the point where many in this sub would correctly tell me to not do this as it sets unrealistic expectations and only results in more work being offloaded on me.

Even before taking on these task I was doing what in a similar building 2-3 people would do and could manage it. I was asked to take on some task beyond that as I thought it would make my life easier since they were the parts constraining me; plus it would help the company. I laid out to ownership in a business plan what we needed to hit each production goal limit and it was brushed aside. When I tried to figure out what was ordered or in inventory I got pushback. As I dug I realized the owner was actively holding off ordering certain parts while telling clients that there product would be out immediately. Clients were thrust onto me as a contact that were clearly lied to by ownership. It just kept building with issues.

After doing these task for two weeks and getting overwhelmed with an avalanche of work I realized it is affecting me at home and that it is an impossible task. Heck it was affecting me at home before; I just didn't realize it as it hit me slowly like death from a thousand needles. I professionally requested to go back to my previous role as I was unable to do this job effectively. This was met harshly and I was told ownership needs to “look at things as I am highly compensated” for my position. I am still making the same pay I started at over a year ago and did such a good job that extra responsibilities were tasked to me. My reward for going above and beyond and trying to help the company. I let several people know about this at work and I don't know how the owner is ever going to get anyone to ever go above and beyond after this. I still haven't had a resolution to this at work; just some unprofessional emails going back and forth as he has been absent all week. I'm lucky that I have options and am exploring all of them; the only option I will not take is to have a pay cut to do the same job.
