For context, I live in Ottawa now. I have worked in recreation with seniors, for 8 years. I have also been a dietary aide and screener. I have 4.5 years of long term care experience, and have spent almost 4 years working in retirement homes.
In Ontario we are still under Bill C-124. This limits wage increases to 1% for health care workeers. This has been going on since 2020.
As of now I live check to check. Giving up on things I enjoy because it costs $. My savings took a hit after getting axed from work in January. It took almost 3 months to find work. Was on EI and with my savings made it through. Had 10 interviews before getting my job a lot ghosted me or rejected me before I found something. I also lost count how many rezumes i sent out. Probably 100.
I was thinking of getting into HR but, I am not bilingual and not sure if a certificate will be enough to get a decent job.
Thanks for reading. Any advice is appreciated.
