This is a true story, of a beginning employment. I accepted a trucking position at a company in Williston ND. Now—for those not in the know, truck drivers are subject to federal rules regarding drug/alcohol testing, most of which are ridiculous and nonsensical.
This company sent me for a pre-employment drug screen and a physical. I’ve never done drugs in my life, and that’s not an exaggeration, ive been clean and sober all my life. (Boring, I know.)
The doctor they sent me to administer a “panel test” and falsely claimed that it was a DOT approved test, and that I’d tested positive for THC and PCP.
I laughed. None of the prescription drugs i take have any interactions or reactions. Nobody in my family smokes or uses Cannbis products.
They “fired” me immediately and attempted to file a report with the Clearinghouse that I had refused a drug test. The unfortunate part for them, the doctor had already mailed in the actual vials to the lab, which proved that I was completely clean. Cue malicious behavior.
The drug clearinghouse called me and asked what the fuck was going on, naturally. I fully explained, showing text messages where I was called a worthless drug addict and why did I even apply for this job I knew I was going to fail, etc.
The DOT showed up and crawled up that company’s ass with a fine tooth comb. Turns out this doctor and this company was falsely claiming failed drug tests, and then offering “second chance employment” at 1/4 the wage the person was originally promised.
Now the DOT isn’t a court body and I didn’t get any compensation for this. Except that I bought the owners pickup truck at auction when they were forced into bankruptcy. I didn’t need the truck, but buying it while he glared at me is one of the highlights of my life.
Thanks for letting me share. 🥰
