I was already working in the company and after noticing that an opportunity popped at a different site which was right in the city I lived in, I applied and I got the job. At first I thought the new boss was friendly based off the interview, shouldn’t be bad right? I was wrong.
Two months in that new place, I was working like a hamster on a wheel with no support given from the boss, couple that with serious health problems of my own. I was the sole HR rep at a site with 600 employees. I busted my ass to keep up and the new boss didn’t understand why my workload was too much.
I even divulged my serious health problems to the boss in the hopes that they would help out, but they didn’t seem sympathetic.
I asked for support on two occasions. And he balked at it. I was even criticized for asking for support. That was after he said the generic “I’m here to support you. Anything you need let me know”.
Never ever had I received any acknowledgment for good work done. No positive reinforcements.
I worked overtime few times and he didn’t like the fact that I asked for lieu time.
Did he take credit for the work I spent almost few days on? Yep.
After everything I have been through and after busting my ass despite my health issues, I was let go. For standing up for myself. I didn’t curse. I didn’t yell. All I did was sit down with the boss and articulate my concerns as professionally as I can.
How can people be so cruel?
