Boss wants me to update my resume so he can put it in my employee file?

I got an email from my boss asking me to update my resume to include my current position so it can be added to my employee file. I've been here three years and they should have my resume from when I applied three years ago. Why am I being asked to update my resume for my current employer? This is bizarre right? Am I about to be fired or something?
