A little context I’m a truck driver, I pull grocery to gas stations and grocery stores. I run a Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule and have Sunday off. I get paid Salary as long as I run 3 loads a week.
Last Tuesday my fiancé had to get a biopsy and go to other Dr appointments all day. Normally I’d be on the road on Tuesday due to how my loads are set up, so I talked to the dispatch manager and she put me on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday. That would have me back home for the appointments and taking a load out that night.
Now for the bullshit, I took my load out on Sunday night and was back Monday after noon. Took my fiancé to their appointments and was busy all day but dispatch never texted me or called me with load info, they forgot about me. Whatever extra day off, till Monday came. I got a text from my dispatch manager saying that because I didn’t adhere to the original plan and didn’t take a load out I didn’t hit my min 2,200 miles for the week by 600 miles there for I won’t be getting my normal salary of $1,330 and will be payed .55¢ for my miles that week netting me $703 for the week.
I asked them why didn’t they get me a load and was told they had forgotten about me and that I should’ve called them to remind them that I needed a load. The owner of the company said the same thing, that it’s my fault that dispatch forgot about me. Then he says I can use a PTO day to cover that Tuesday, I wasn’t happy with it but whatever I’d get paid. Talked to the dispatch manager and she said I didn’t have PTO due to not having 90 days with the company and that I was short a few weeks….I was hired 1/23/23 my 90days was Sunday so I do have PTO. Texted the owner and he said because I didn’t have PTO at the time (four days before my 90) I couldn’t use my PTO.
The only reason I haven’t quit is because I have a small vacation scheduled in July but as soon as I get back I’m fucking off. I can understand if I do something wrong but getting punished for someone else forgetting to do their job is not my fault. I’m a driver not a manager it’s not my fucking job to make sure someone else is doing their job properly.
