All these posts about ppl being asked to come in on their day off for a meeting or cleaning or something, but is there no minimum shift length?
Im an aussie and we have 2 kinds of employment, casual and permanent. If your permanent any changes to your hours have to be with the employees request or approval. And if you're casual, theres a minimum shift length or 3 hours, and often unions will get industry wide agreements to increase it to 4 or even 5 in some cases.
Can you americans really be asked to commute to work just for a 20min meeting?
I once had an employer mistakenly schedule me on a public holiday (casuals dont get paid for public holidays), but noone showed up to open the doors, so i rang my manager, found out it was a mistake, got paid for 4 hours and went home.
