I just want to rant: last week, while I was interviewing a candidate I was excited about for my team, my direct supervisor (our department head) said they wouldn’t hire the candidate because this candidate had longer manicured nails. Then my supervisor asked me to ask HR if there was a legal way to ask the candidate to cut their nails are part of the offer. I told my super I don’t think there is but I’ll check. I wrote to HR and got a resounding no, obviously, but now I’m the asshole for putting it in writing.
