Taking on new roles

I’m a sales representative at my job. My job consists of answering the phone and quoting/ scheduling customers. I work partially remotely and I am only in the office three days a week. A few months ago my boss brought me a huge stack of invoices and said he needed some of my help filing. I didn’t have a lot to do that day so I finished pretty quickly. It started to become a common occurrence that my boss would just dump huge stacks of invoices to be filed while I was on a call or away from my desk. I tried to keep up, but with the working from home 3 days a week I started to get backed up. I have a growing pile of un-filed invoices and I just had saw I have a scheduled performance review with my boss today and under notes I see “filing/paperwork”.…

How do I go about having a conversation with my boss telling him I didn’t know this was a task he wanted me to fully take over?
