Which is worse, a company that rejects autistic applicants, or a company that hires them but mistreats them anyway?

Because I know of a company that's in the second group. They hire autistic people and take pride of saying they are “neurodiverse”, in fact they really love to build their company brand around it, but it's all for external appearances. Internally, people who worked there have mostly negative experiences, saying that there's systemic ableism and sexism, plus people with autism are held to neurotypical standards anyways. In some cases, they are underpaid and held back from promotions, compared to their NT peers, despite having the same kind of performance. In one particular aspect, there's also a kind of age discrimination going on in trying to hire aspies under age 26. Why is that age important? Some might recall it's the oldest age that you can still be covered by your parents' health insurance in the US. So they greatly prefer these hires so that they can continue not to rovide health insurance, life insurance, etc. and avoid problems for failure to provide the same wages and benefits to all of the workers (NT or otherwise).

I want to know if you have seen companies who have seen similar situations at work and what is something outsiders- people who are neither current or former employees- can do about this.
