2 weeks ago today, i quit my fast food job that i had for 4 and a half years. My GM quit on that monday, and I was the only remaining manager, get this, THEY WANTED ME TO WORK 105 HOURS IN ONE WEEK. I'm in college, we had been asking for another manager for 3 months and no answer on that.
i ended up in academic probation because of the fact I wasn't able to take tests as I often had to come in on my days off, ending with 66 hours in a week. Suddenly we had 3 managers that could come in, I put in my two weeks notice, got yelled at by our AD for not putting in a 4 week notice. Turned in my key the very next day.
I had put up with a lot of shit such as my first GM there telling me I couldn't have a raise from $12.50 (min wage in arkansas is $11) to $13 because I'm autistic and was being negative (my sister in law just died and I had to work the following days.)
My second GM often berated me and told me I needed to work on my people skills but never told me what i was doing wrong, as well as told me if i smiled more, I'd be respected as a manager. She only started pulling this stuff when i became manager. She made me pay everytime the safe was short because we had a manager who was stealing from it, only made me pay, nobody else. She got demoted to AGM when the first GM came back and got fired for stealing company time under my name.
My third and last GM was the only one worthwhile and treated me like an actual human, but my AD ran her off. He said she needed to deal with her external stressors before she could handle a job. She was working 70hrs a week and she has 3 young kids.
The amount of bullshit I put up with during my time there was ridiculous, when I was just an employee people were throwing slurs at me often and when i told my AD, he blew it off.
They promised me a raise to $14 at the end with conditions of stuff and so claimed it was put in the week prior but I never saw it! Just fucking ridiculous. I'm just glad to be out of there. I missed appointments over this job. Had strep throat for weeks over this job. My health has gotten better since leaving and I've been able to care for myself.
